Week 6-Ricchio

This week I started to notice how well my teacher balances a million things at one time. This is one of the amazing things about teachers I have began to learn and appreciate more and more. Learning to balance is so important and teachers do an incredible with it. I hope I can do the same when I have my own classroom. I have began to take notes on small things my teacher does to remember for the future. There are so many things you learn with experience. Little things like copying, making phone calls, taking records, creating assignments, teaching lessons and collating papers seem so effortless...it's something my teacher calls a "learning curve." I am very fortunate to have this experience and support I am receiving. Having a full year in the classroom is so beneficial and eye opening. I feel like I have already grown so much in the past 6 weeks and I know there is so much more growing to come. It's amazing to to be working alongside so many talented, passionate, encouraging teachers who put their students first. Everyday I see teachers who come early and leave late. I know my teacher has stayed until 8 some nights and that's something a lot of people do not realize. They think teachers have the best hours, best benefits, and summers off....but who are we kidding? I'm convinced teachers have super powers :)

  1. It is actually very significant that you are noticing all of these small things...indeed, as you mention, most people don't realize how difficult it is to juggle all the things teachers are expected to do - that is, until they actually try teaching. Teaching is much more than what we remember our teachers doing (handing out papers, lecturing at the blackboard, taking attendance, etc.). Now that you are "behind the scenes" it is important to notice all that goes on - and how your teacher successfully manages these tasks.
